Alford began more than 10 years ago as a small inspection company, Alford Inspection, Inc.  Service being our ultimate goal Alford Inspection was renamed Alford Services, Inc.  With our offshore experience and seeing the need Alford Services, Inc. began to concentrate our efforts on safety related personnel and equipment. In 2000, this led to the inception of Alford Safety Services, Inc. (ASSI).  ASSI, primarily focused on safety equipment mostly gas detection.

With increasing regulations on minimum training requirements, Alford, was unsatisfied with the level of training it was receiving from its vendors. ASSI constructed a Safety Training Facility and taught its first class on New Years Eve December 31st 2001. With service in mind, Alford kept investing in its Safety Training Facility and has become the largest in the Gulf South. Alford has expanded its safety training to 3 facilities servicing Houma, Lafayette and New Orleans.  In 2007, ASSI acquired the leader in the marine training industry, Houston Marine.

Through the years, ASSI also witnessed many advances in gas detection. Alford Safety Services Inc., through its’ HAZTEC division is the industry leader in hot work enclosure construction and computerized control system operation and has safely and successfully constructed and controlled several hundred hot work enclosures world-wide.  The HAZTEC System conforms to all applicable laws, regulations, rules and guidelines of Federal, State and Local agencies governing hot work conducted at potentially hazardous sites.  The HAZTEC System is comprised of a enclosure, which can be composed of hard or soft materials, in which the hot work is performed, and a computerized monitoring and data acquisition system in conjunction with a control and shutdown system.  The hot work (not the platform) is automatically shut down in the event of a hazardous situation involving combustible or flammable gases.  The HAZTEC System employs a hierarchical rule set to perform safe monitoring and control of hazardous areas – effectively eliminating “shut-in” time of projects, maintenance or repairs.   HAZTEC tm is now being offered in 5 countries across the world. Alford secured all 3 related patents regarding to this technology.

ASSI has also expanded its services to offer several other safety related fields including Paramedic, EMT and First Responders. Alford also expanded by adding a Drug & Alcohol Collection Site, Facility and Vessel Security Inspections.  This lead to the incorporation of Alford Safety and Compliance, LLC. Mr. Alford and the management team at Alford feel that through hard work, vision and a team effort that Alford will continue to be leaders in the industry.
